The company has been functioning since 1987 with activities in design, conservation, restoration and a specialization in cultural property.

The need to continually adapt to the new regulations has given the company over the years the characteristics of a company that has now, thanks to experience gained in the field, technical skills, project and organization of the top level. With specialized staff that allows continuous operation in different fields of restoration, and collaboration with the decentralized institutions of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, local authorities and churches.

Susanna Sarmati owner and technical director graduated from the Central Institute for Restoration in Rome in 1986 with a degree in painting on wooden panels. She received a specialization in 1986 on the restoration of stone artifacts and has been operating for many years on artifacts of different types performing specialized work such as a microscope rejoining of the laceration on canvas paintings using the method developed by Prof. Winfried Heibe, consolidation and processing of wood products with the vacuum system using pump, etc.

Stefno Defenu, technical director yards wooden artifacts, has a degree in history and philosophy at the Sapienza University of Rome, and has cultivated a passion for the craft of woodworking benches equipped laboratories, and he is attracted to the technique of cabinets. Today he has over thirty years of experience in the restoration of works of art, specializing in the restoration and conservation of antique furniture, wooden products, wooden structures and carriers.

The company currently operates in the areas corresponding to the category OS2A: ordinary and extraordinary maintenance and restoration of architectural and decorative surfaces of historical pieces of artistic and archaeological heritage, in particular conservation restorations:

• Design of restoration and maintenance of decorated architectural surfaces and furniture
• Surfaces and archaeological materials: plaster, masonry surfaces, stone surfaces, surfaces in earthenware, mosaic floors, etc.
• Surfaces and artwork: paintings, gouaches, stucco, painted on canvas, polychrome wooden statues, polychrome pottery, etc.
• Wooden artifacts, furniture and furnishings in general, wood inlays, equipment for processions and similar equipment, facilities and complements the architecture
• Mosaic wall and floor surfaces.
• Stone: sculptures and architectures
• Surfaces of architectural monuments with stratigraphic analysis of the surfaces and critical study of materials and processing techniques

The company counts among recent restorations:

• Designing the restoration of the decorative (mosaics, paintings, wooden objects) in the Basilica of the Nativity in Bethlehem, in collaboration with the School of Specialization in Architectural and Landscape Architecture at the Faculty of “La Sapienza” of Rome.
• The restoration of the stucco on the vaults of the North passage in the Flavian amphitheatre
• The Roman frescoes in the House of Squared Theatre in Pompeii.
• the wooden choir of the Cathedral of St. Massimo in L’Aquila
• the ciborium of Arnolfo di Cambio at the Basilica of St. Cecilia in Rome.
• the paintings by Guido Reni in the chapel of the bathroom in the Basilica of St. Cecilia in Rome.
• the façade brickwork and marble elements of the Casa dei Crescenzi in Rome.
